| PROGRESSIVE THERAPY OPTIONS Acupuncture: An ancient healing art used for pain relief as well as a variety of disorders by re-balancing the bodys 'chi, or energy, along the meridian pathways. Acupuncture utilizes fine needles to access specific points in a localized area. For more information about Acupuncture at The Amadeus Center for Health and Healing: Koryo Hand Therapy: Koryo Hand Therapy(KHT) is called Koryo Sooji Chim, Korean Hand Acupuncture or Soojichim. It improves function of the human body by manipulating and stimulating corresponding tender points on our hands. First originated, studied and developed by Korean acupuncturist Dr. Tae Woo Yoo in the mid-1970's, KHT(Koryo Hand Therapy) theorizes that the hands are a micro-cosmos of the body. This scientific medical system is safe, painless and has no negative side effects whatsoever. Koryo Sooji Chim is very effective in treating a wide range of ailments such as infertility, rheumatic arthritis, allergy and stroke. KHT treatment can play a useful part in complementing Western Medicine by alleviating pain and promoting recovery and lessening the side effects of chemotherapy in cancer patients, relieving nausea, so that the patients can continue to receive the treatment. NEW SECTION! :THE BENEFITS OF ACUPUNTURE Manual Lymph Drainage: This massage removes toxins that are ready for elimination under the surface of the skin. Its purpose is to assist the bodys natural process. If you are feeling generally under the weather (like you could catch a cold or the flu), this is the best massage. It is also effective in the elimination of swelling in any part of the body and in assisting venous circulation. Cranial Sacral Therapy: This therapy addresses the rhythm of your cerebrospinal fluid. This is a core fluid in your body which bathes the brain and the length if the spine. Its rhythm is like the ebb and flow the tides rather than the pulse of our circulatory system. Trauma can cause blockages that affect this rhythm and the function of the nervous system. The goal of this therapy is to release those blockages in your core river. This therapy is subtle, but powerful, and profoundly relaxing. Neuro Muscular Therapy: This scientifically based therapy utilizes techniques to re balance muscle systems with the nervous system. Assessments of posture are made to determine specific muscles, tendons and ligaments that will receive massage. This is a more specific form of bodywork. It does not fall into the category of a full body massage. It does not address general relaxation, but focuses on parts of the body that are in pain, and the underlying physiological causes. This massage is best for specific injuries and dysfunctions and can be applied to a variety of conditions from scoliosis to headaches and many of the same things discussed in Core Unwinding. Muscle Energy Therapy - Strain Counter Strain: Wear thin clothing. The therapist will access your posture continuously throughout treatment. The body will be put into release positions to allow unwinding. Sometimes slight resistance by the patient is required. This therapy is often integrated in core unwinding. It is simple in form and profound in effects and often makes long lasting changes. Often used in conjunction with Core Unwinding. Visceral Manipulation: This therapy may be done as an isolated therapy or may be utilized during a Core Unwinding session. In addition to the symptoms treatable by Core Unwinding, add a host of abdominaldisorders including cramps, spasms, pains and constipation. Myofascial Release: Myofascial Release is a highly specialized stretching technique used to treat patients with a variety of soft tissue problems. It is a stretching of the fascia, a thin tissue that covers all the organs of the body. This tissue covers every muscle and every fiber within each muscle. All muscle stretching, then, is actually stretching of the fascia and the muscle, the myofascial unit. When muscle fibers are injured, the fibers and the fascia which surrounds it become short and tight. This uneven stress can be transmitted through the fascia to other parts of the body, causing pain and a variety of other symptoms in areas you often wouldn't expect. Myofascial Release treats pain by releasing the uneven tightness in injured fascia. Myofascial Release is not massage. Myofascial Release is used to equalize muscle tension throughout the body. Unequal muscle tension can compress nerves and muscles causing pain. Progress is measured by a decrease in the patient's pain and by an improvement in overall posture. Myofascial Release is highly effective in treating patients with the following diagnoses. -- Back strain, chronic back pain, low back pain, thoracic back pain -- Carpal tunnel syndrome -- Chronic cervical pain -- Complex pain complaints -- Dizziness, vertigo -- Fibromyalgia -- Fibrositis -- Headache -- Myofascial pain dysfunction -- Plantar fasciitis -- Post-Polio symptoms -- Thoracic outlet syndrome -- TMJ dysfunction -- Trigger points, tender points -- Whiplash *Description complients of www.myofascialrelease.com Core Unwinding: In this therapy postural imbalances are addressed using a variety of soft tissue release techniques. Trauma and the uneven use of our bodies set up muscle imbalances. The underlying core structure compensates with varying degrees of shifts, and even twisting of the spine. The therapist can evaluate posture (the bodysenergetic reflection) by comparing bony landmarks such as your ankles, sacrum and ileum. These structures determine your position while sitting or standing. To determine this, thin clothing is best to be worn. The therapist will determine the position of the sacrum by palpation. Its position is crucial to good health. This therapy is especially good for all kinds of scoliotic patterns, headaches, herniated discs, thinning discs, hip, back, neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, ankle problems, and TMJ disorders such as grinding teeth and clenched jaws. Ear Candling: Ear Candling (also known as Ear Coning) is a simple, effective method for removing ear wax build-up, fungus and impaction from within the ear canal. During an Ear Candling session you lie on your side with your body in a straight alignment. A special conical candle is inserted into a protective plate . . . The candle is lit and slowly begins to burn. The small tapered end of the candle is gently placed into your ear canal. The ear candle -- by its shape, design and length -- draws ear wax and fungus deposits from deep inside your ear canal. As the ear candling session progresses, extracted ear wax and fungus will be burned off, but a majority will be collected in the bottom part of the candle. After the candle has burned down and been extinguished, the therapist will cut open the remnant and show you the former contents of your ear canal. Expect to be amazed! Note: We also sell Ear Candles for those who prefer to treat themselves or have a friend assist! All you need is a paper plate with a nickel-sized hole in it, a match or lighter, and 40 minutes of stillness with no distractions! Ear Candles are available in our Herbal Apothecary for only $6.00/ pair! Clinical Hypnotherapy: Clinical Hypnotherapy is recognized as a safe and direct way to access your subconscious mind, uncover areas of conflict and limitation and reprogram for new beginnings. Build self-esteem, heal childhood traumas, reduce stress, stop addictive patterns, clear phobias and even sleep disorders. Medically it is used for the reduction of chronic pain to augment or even replace anesthesia. If you have never tried hypnosis, be assured that it is a natural and safe process with much research behind it. Call for a phone consultation. This may just be the answer you were looking for. New Section!: HYPNOTHERAPY WORKS! Chakra Balancing/Energy Work: Quantum Physically-speaking, we are light beings. A rainbow of colors exist inside us that make us beautiful and unique. These are your Chakra, which correlate to the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet-white. Each Chakra corresponds to a flux of energy that responds to physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual input. Focusing on the light body brings a spiritual dimension to healing work. Using combined techniques both on and off the body, this work is not physical manipulation. It allows clients to develop awareness of their own energy (light) body. Setting and maintaining healthy boundaries may be examined. As this work unfolds, clients become more grounded and are able to hold focus more easily. They may experience spontaneous memories, emotional release, expanding and healing shifts in their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual awareness. Moxa Therapy Moxa Therapy is often used with Acupuncture, as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It originated alongside Acupuncture many thousands of years ago. However, Moxa Therapy can also be used alone, without Acupuncture. Moxa is a Chinese herb that is burnt over Acupuncture points, and is a method of increasing heat in the body, increasing energy, and of eliminating cold and damp in the body. It is used to treat the following conditions: -- Skin Conditions of all kinds -- Arthritis and joint conditions -- Digestive problems -- Gynecological-- menstrual, menopause -- Nervous conditions such as stress, anxiety, depression -- Sinus problems, such as hay fever, sinusitis -- Sleep problems -- Coughs, colds, flu, Herpes Simplex 1 (cold sores) & 2, other acute and viral infections |
